30 in 30 Memory Works Card Challenge: Days 6 & 7

Hey Folks! It’s a two for one today. Yesterday was a little hectic around here (but that’s a blog post for another time). Let’s jump right in!

Yesterday’s card challenge was brought to you by my friend, co-designer and crafter extraordinaire Lynn Darda. You can see the her Operation Write Home sketch on the Memory Works blog. Here’s my take on Lynn’s challenge:

Once again I turned to Teresa Collins’ Christmas Cottage collection. (No, really, I do use other papers….) I love the variety of patterns in this collection as well as the music accents! All of the brads and bling are from the Christmas Cottage brads collection. For the little flower embellishment, I used the retired Flower layer punch by Stampin’ Up. The sentiment is from the October Stamp Of The Month set from Close To My Heart and is stamped in Olive Exclusive ink.

Here are a couple of close-ups:

(Don’t you just love that element?!) 😀

Now for challenge number 7! This one is brought to us by über-talented designer, Jody Spiegelhoff. (Make sure to visit her at SpiegelMom Scraps! for a TON of inspiration! She can also hook you up with some great Washi tape at her Etsy shop. Her Sketch Support challenge sketch can be found over on the Memory Works blog, along with her awesome take on the sketch.

Here’s my take:

Love the simplicity of this sketch! The background is made with strips of Christmas Cottage Washi tape cut at different lengths. I snipped the ends at different angles to add interest. The brads and patterned paper are also Christmas Cottage. The cover sentiment is from the CTMH October Stamp Of The Month, and is stamped on Colonial White cardstock in Chocolate Exclusive ink. The snowflake reminiscent  shapes were made with the retired Doily triple layer punch by Stampin’ Up. The little bling is from my stash, and was colored with red and brown Sharpies.

Here is a snap of the sentiment on the inside:

The words are from the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge set by Close To My Heart. (I added the ellipses and ampersand by hand.)

Here are some close-ups of the cover:

(I LOVE the subtle details on the brads in this collection!)

Hope you enjoyed you two for one today! I’ll be back with the 8th installment tomorrow, along with a little peak of what I’ll be featuring on the Memory Works blog on Friday. So stay tuned and don’t forget to make something beautiful today!

Cheers!
