I’ve finally decided on teachers’ gifts for the end of the year. Between my 2 kids, we have 5 teachers (next year there will be 6), so I tried to keep it simple. This is a little magnet board that was inspired by this video by Angie Kennedy Judah at Chic n Scratch. These are actually fairly simple to make. I added Post-it notes, a pen loop, and the word “notes” to mine, but it was still pretty easy.
Here’s what I did:
I purchased metal flashing from my local hardware store ($9 for 6 in. by 10 feet), and cut it down to 6 in. by 8 in. with regular scissors. I then used a spray adhesive on the metal and attached my paper. I cut off the excess paper and used my Binderie to punch the holes. (I tried to set some eyelets, but failed miserably!) I used the Binderie to punch holes in the purple paper and then used my “Friendship” punch from Creative Memories (CM) to punch the flowers to make “faux eyelets.” I rounded the corners with my Round-It-All. I then used my Winter Woodland cartridge and my Cricut Expression to cut the word “notes.” The cut is 1 in. with the “real dial size” set to ON. For the pen loop, I punched a hole in the metal and the ribbon with my Crop-a-Dile using the smallest setting. I then set a white eyelet to hold it in place. (I did this before attaching the Post-it notes, so they would hide the tail of the ribbon.)
The paper is from CM’s’ “Every Day” paper pack, which has been retired. The magnets are made from coordinating stickers that I stuck to a magnet sheet and cut around. The cardstock is CM, as well. (I’m using up my stash! Yay!) The ribbon is some I picked up at one of my local craft stores–A.C. Moore or Michael’s, I can’t remember which. I then used Stickles to outline the eyelets and add a little sparkle to the letters. The bling on the magnets is from my stash.
The whole project took less than an hour from start to finish. 🙂
